Agape by Zoë

A story carried by the Sea

Brief

Zoë’s business has grown rapidly in the last year but she felt her current logo did not communicate this. This was hindering her reaching new clients on social media (primarily, Instagram) She wanted a logo that would be catch people’s attention and convey a quality product, intriguing onlookers to find out more if they saw the logo on Instagram or on packaging.

Key Project Elements

We began with the jewellery itself. The designs were so striking and beautiful that we felt we had to capture this in the final design. But we also wanted to highlight the uniqueness and beauty of the material Zoë was using, namely; sea glass. Elements which stood out particularly, were the matte colour palette and the, the smooth unique shapes and the way light interacted with it. This of course was a direct result of the sea. We wanted to really highlight the unique journey each bit of glass had taken to be shaped into the final piece. The roll of the sea was incredibly important as a consideration throughout. Lastly, We looked at the unique craftsmanship that Zoë demonstrated. We couldn’t let the branding go without being intentional about her own skill. It the skilful silverware that makes the products stand out form other natural material crafts. We took the elegant twists and considered placement of the silver wire into the logo but also chose upmarket fonts that made the brand reflect the high end nature of the company; the mastery of the form.

What We Did

The final logo is based on the pendants. The silver wire has been removed to emphasise the glass and also create a sense of connectedness and freedom. 'Agape’ has been done in Zoë's own writing style on paper. This was then traced and overlayed over the stone design. This portrays the handmade aspect of the company and keeps the uniqieness of the sea glass and its journey as a main emphasis. The ‘by Zöe’ text was then integrated into the lattice of the silverwork to show how connected Zoë is to her work and every piece she creates. This is subtle and remains clean and professional. The silverwork has been ‘cut out’ the logo and background photos will be visible through the gaps to maintain that connectedness in promotional posts on Instagram.

Visualisations

The final idea utilises the colour pallet of smooth matt glass balances with the blue of the sea. The text is hand-drawn like a signature. It is a more creative approach to a standard font. This is balanced by an elegant font to show this is also a brand centred on quality. The logo is based on the pendants. The silver wire has been removed to emphasise the glass and also create a sense of connectedness and freedom. The final result is an elegant, high quality feeling logo but which still holds the colours and the feeling of the sea right through the work. We have continued to work with Zoë providing social media support, building and helping with the up-keep of her website.
